FIRE SPRINKLER SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Receive service calls from Service Resource Center, including a brief description of sprinkler equipment/system malfunctions. Contact customer representatives to ascertain equipment/system problems, diagnose issues, and perform service and repairs on electronic fire sprinkler systems and related building system products at customer sites.

Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, bulletins, and modification notices to repair equipment. Service, troubleshoot, and install many different manufacturers’ Fire & Life Safety systems, including Simplex Grinnell. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.

Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure customer satisfaction. Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices, such as smartphones and laptop computers. Obtain customer signature upon completed service call assignment. Participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation. Help to train or mentor others on the service team. Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items as a trusted advisor, offering solutions and outcomes at the time of service.

you will do it
  • Troubleshoot and repair installed sprinkler systems, including panel repair/reprogram, device replacement/repair, low voltage circuit troubleshooting, and system testing.
  • Organize and effectively utilize technical resources, information, material, and support to assure efficient execution of all assigned tasks.
  • Maintain excellent written and verbal communication; demonstrate outstanding customer service skills.
  • Program fire sprinkler, security, and access control system panels.
  • Complete and submit all required task‑related, activity, productivity, and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Work on‑call and after‑hours as required. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities and quotes.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with fire sprinkler systems.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Good working knowledge of computers.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50–70 lbs.
  • Work in unusual or difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, high‑lift equipment up to 40 feet, ducts, crawl spaces, or above ceilings.
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends; overnight travel may be required.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
  • Adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Retain any licenses required by national, state, and local codes.
Preferred
  • Technical training.
  • NICET II certification.

Hourly rate: $29.66 – $42.00, determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
