Role Description: The Sheet Metal Journeyperson is a full-time, on-site role based in Reno, NV. This role involves fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal components, including ductwork, HVAC systems, and architectural metal elements for commercial and industrial projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, operating fabrication equipment, and performing high-quality welding and fastening work. The Journeyperson will coordinate with project teams, follow safety standards, and ensure systems are installed, serviced, and maintained in accordance with industry and local code requirements.
The role may also include troubleshooting mechanical systems, performing repairs, and supporting apprentices and less experienced workers on the job site.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in sheet metal fabrication, layout, and installation for ductwork and architectural metal components.
- Experience with commercial and industrial HVAC and mechanical systems, including installation, service, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in welding and specialty fabrication techniques, using common tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications, with accurate measuring, cutting, and fitting abilities.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and craftsmanship, with knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
- Completion of a recognized sheet metal apprenticeship program or equivalent journeyperson-level experience.
- Ability to work on-site in varying conditions, lift and move materials, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Solid communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with contractors, supervisors, and fellow tradespeople.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to Reno, NV job sites; OSHA 10 is required.
