Job Description:
As an Asphalt Screed Operator, you will play a crucial role in our asphalt paving operations. Your primary responsibility will be to operate the screed on our paving machine to ensure a smooth, level, and consistent asphalt surface. You will work closely with other crew members to achieve optimal results and meet project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the screed on the asphalt paving machine to lay asphalt to the desired width and depth.
- Monitor the temperature and flow of asphalt to ensure a uniform surface.
- Adjust screed settings to achieve specified grades and slopes.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on the screed and paving machine.
- Work collaboratively with the paving crew to ensure efficient and quality work.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with the project manager and other crew members.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Asphalt Screed Operator.
- Thorough understanding of asphalt paving techniques and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and adapt to a flexible schedule.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and kneeling.
- Capability to work in a noisy, fast-paced environment.
