Job Description

Truckee Meadows Community College, located in Reno, Nevada, is seeking applicants for an Athletic Trainer & Coordinator for the Fitness, Wellness and Athletics department.

Responsibilities

• Assess the physical health of student‑athletes and treat injuries sustained during participation in the College’s athletic programs.

• Assist the Director of Fitness, Wellness, and Athletics in managerial duties related to planning, assessment, and reporting of athletics, wellness, and fitness activities.

Major Responsibilities Athletic Training (50%)
  • Assist with athletic training coverage for all men's and women's intercollegiate teams.
  • Maintain and compile complete and accurate records for each student‑athlete injured or treated during athletics.
  • Compile and update student‑athlete emergency contact documents.
  • Provide certified athletic training coverage for all home athletic contests.
  • Assist in game day preparations, setup, and clean‑up.
  • SCHEDULES preseason concussion testing and heart testing for all student‑athletes.
  • Develop emergency procedures and action plans for all game day operations and events.
  • Act as a liaison with TMCC team physicians and consultants regarding student‑athlete physical exams, referrals, and injury/treatment management.
  • Travel with athletic teams as needed.
  • Provide expertise for prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and related illnesses.
  • Coordinate athletic insurance coverage with athletes, health care providers, and parents.
  • Consult and participate in the Health and Wellness Committee.
  • Create and manage yearly budgets for sports medicine, supplies, and equipment.
  • Organize sports medicine supplies and equipment and maintain associated records.
  • Maintain and facilitate repairs for sports medicine equipment.
  • Manage all Athletic Department staff licensure for CPR and First Aid.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
    • Athletic Department Coordinator (50%)
  • Collect, organize, and track measurable outcome data from each sports team.
  • Track and organize alumni information.
  • Assist in developing, planning, and implementing goals and measurable outcomes related to the College’s core themes and strategic plan.
  • Assist with management of Sports and Fitness Center activities, including interviewing, scheduling, hiring, and managing of student workers and LOAs.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve Sports and Fitness Center operations and procedures.
  • Request academic reports to be given to coaches to ensure student‑athletes remain eligible.
  • Assist in coordinating and planning annual Tailgate, Banquet, Spirit Day, Health and Wellness Committee events, and similar Athletic Department events.
  • Work closely with the Administrative Assistant to the Fitness, Wellness, and Athletics Department to ensure continuity of processes and initiatives; serve as backup as needed.
  • Process paperwork, correspondence, and other documents to ensure office functioning and avoid disruption of services.
  • Proactively manage phone calls, e‑mails, visitors, and other requests or inquiries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
    • Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Public Health, Kinesiology, or equivalent field.
  • One (1) year of work experience within Athletic Training or a related field.
  • Board certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
  • Nevada state certified for Athletic Trainers or equivalent.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
    • Preferred Qualifications
    • Instructor Certified for CPR and First Aid.
    • Flexible and accommodating work availability.
    • Experience with management in Athletic Departments.
    Salary and Benefits Information

    Salary: $58,415 - $73,019, initial salary placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience.
