We are partnering with a well-established global manufacturing company with more than 50 years of operating history and a strong footprint across North America and Europe. This organization designs, manufactures, and distributes products used in demanding commercial, industrial, utilities, and infrastructure environments.
This is a hands‑on Logistics Coordinator role with a heavy focus on ocean freight, international shipping, container movement, and freight cost control
. Ocean freight makes up the majority of the company’s transportation spend, so we are looking for someone who understands the full ocean freight cycle and can keep international shipments moving with accuracy, urgency, and control.
The right person will have experience coordinating ocean freight shipments, working with freight forwarders, tracking containers, managing shipping documents, communicating with suppliers, and helping reduce transportation costs while keeping customer and business deadlines on track.
What You’ll Be DoingIn this role, you will coordinate the movement of goods from origin to final destination, with a major emphasis on ocean freight logistics. You will work closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, warehouse teams, internal stakeholders, and customers to make sure ocean freight shipments are moving efficiently and without unnecessary delay. You will help manage the order fulfillment and transportation cycle, with special attention to ocean freight timelines, container availability, shipping documentation, port activity, drayage coordination, and freight cost review.
You will also help monitor and review ocean freight costs, transportation rates, container-related charges, and overall shipping performance to identify ways to reduce cost and improve the process.
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments, with a strong focus on ocean freight.
- Manage and track ocean freight shipments from supplier origin through port, drayage, warehouse, and final delivery.
- Work with freight forwarders, customs brokers, steamship lines, carriers, suppliers, and warehouse teams.
- Arrange transportation and help orchestrate deliveries to meet customer demand with minimal delay.
- Monitor ocean freight schedules, container movement, vessel timelines, and delivery milestones.
- Review ocean freight costs, transportation rates, accessorial charges, and shipping invoices.
- Help identify opportunities to reduce ocean freight spend and improve freight efficiency.
- Coordinate shipping documentation related to ocean freight, imports, exports, and international logistics.
- Communicate shipment status, delays, exceptions, and delivery updates to internal stakeholders and customers.
- Support order fulfillment, warehouse coordination, and transportation cycle management.
- Take proactive steps to avoid quality control, documentation, or delivery issues.
- Help streamline ocean freight, shipping, transportation, and warehouse processes.
- Prepare accurate logistics and freight reports for management.
- Support compliance with company procedures, quality standards, ISO requirements, and applicable logistics regulations.
- Experience coordinating ocean freight imports and/or exports.
- Familiarity with containerized freight, port logistics, drayage, customs clearance, and international shipping times.
- Experience working with freight forwarders, steamship lines, customs brokers, and global suppliers.
- Understanding of key ocean freight documents, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, arrival notices, and customs paperwork.
- Ability to track ocean containers, manage shipment delays, and communicate clearly across multiple parties.
- Experience reviewing ocean freight charges, including container fees, demurrage, detention, drayage, accessorials, and transportation rates.
- Ability to support cost control and process improvement across high-volume ocean freight operations.
- Comfort working with international suppliers, multiple time zones, and multicultural teams.
- 3 to 5 years of logistics coordination, international logistics, transportation, warehouse, import/export, or customer service experience.
- Direct experience with ocean freight logistics strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of logistics processes, order fulfillment, and transportation coordination.
