ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) is a not-for-profit, community-owned water utility, overseen by elected officials and citizen appointees from Reno, Sparks and Washoe County. TMWA has a highly skilled workforce who ensure the around-the-clock treatment, delivery and availability of high-quality drinking water for more than 475,000 residents of the Truckee Meadows.
We are looking to hire a FLEET MAINTENANCE & MATERIALS COORDINATOR to join our FACILITIES & FLEET Department.
POSITION SUMMARYThe primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate all transportation maintenance activities to ensure the reliability of the fleet resources and heavy equipment. It also coordinates all material and warehousing activities to ensure that materials are available and accounted for.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Coordinates and schedules fleet preventative maintenance programs for vehicles and equipment; including the coordination of major mechanical or electrical repair work, which is performed by outside vendors.
- Coordinates and schedules repairs with outside vendors and vehicle operators to minimize disruptions.
- Coordinates and schedules installations and repair of all accessory equipment such as two-way radios, mobile computer equipment, spotlights, warning lights, power equipment, tools etc.
- Coordinate the lease and rental of vehicles and equipment.
- Performs minor, incidental vehicle maintenance tasks (such as replacing wiper blades, tires, or batteries) as needed.
- Ensures that the TMWA fleet is in compliance with all Federal and State regulations.
- Registers new vehicles and completes the documentation and processing required to place vehicles into service in the TMWA fleet.
- Maintains vehicle related spreadsheets, records, including updating fleet maintenance management software and material/work order tracking systems.
- Assists in identifying and prioritizing vehicles for replacement and identifying the appropriate vehicle and equipment to serve as replacements.
- Prepares vehicles for disposal by removing TMWA logos and installed equipment prior to surplus or auction.
- Assists in developing the annual capital budget for vehicle replacement.
- Assists in the development and implementation of maintenance activities such as asset management and fueling data programs.
- Data entry of received and dispersed items in the material management system, including notification of deliveries to responsible parties.
- Conducts inventory of stock items across the warehouse and various storage areas; maintains proper stock levels of all materials, tools, meters, pipe, concrete boxes, sand, type II base, etc.
- Provides support for material management for all special projects and construction activities.
- Provides logistical support for any type of emergency that could require materials, vehicles and equipment.
- May be assigned to facilitate and coordinate special projects not associated with transportation or materials management as needed.
- Assists in the development and implementation of maintenance activities such as an asset management and fueling data programs.
- Will be required to approve invoices for payment and request purchase orders for service and materials.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the minimum requirements is:
Experience: Four years of progressively responsible work experience coordinating vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance and repair activities, including experience working with outside vendors, service providers, and parts and materials management; OR active maintenance mechanic and any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Education & Training: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must have working‑level knowledge of the English language including reading, writing, and speaking English.
