Job Overview
ASUN Pack Rides is a fast‑paced program that provides transportation services for students, faculty, and staff across the University of Nevada, Reno campus. Drivers work a flexible schedule, often during evenings and weekends, and play a key role in ensuring safe, reliable transportation while promoting community engagement.
Responsibilities- Provide on‑demand ride service covering up to three miles from campus and operate shuttle services on weekends and nighttime routes.
- Practice defensive driving strategies to ensure timely and safe transportation.
- Employ strong customer service skills and communicate important safety information to riders.
- Inspect vehicle cleanliness and safety, and record usage data with applicable technology.
- Collect rider survey data and assist with data definition and collection.
- Make decisions that ensure safe operation and report issues to supervisors.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings and discuss campus issues and safety.
- Assist University Police by reporting suspicious or unsafe activity.
- Enrollment as an undergraduate student at UNR, in good standing with a minimum 2.00 GPA.
- Enrollment of at least 30 credit hours each academic year (freshmen eligible with required credits).
- Availability on weekends and willingness to work late hours.
- Minimum of three years of clean driving experience and a DMV driving record printout available upon offer.
- Pass a state and federal criminal background check and a pre‑employment drug and alcohol test.
- Strong judgment and responsible decision‑making skills.
- Strong listening and leadership skills.
- Assertiveness to maintain boundaries and safety.
- Exceptional defensive driving skills in dark, heavy traffic, or inclement weather.
Up to 20 hours per week, flexible evening schedule based on available shifts. Compensation:
Grade Student Employee Level3 – $13.75/hr.
