Qualifications

FRS Operations Scheduler(s) must demonstrate expert knowledge of and experience coordinating or writing squadron‑level flight and/or simulator schedules for a Navy platform (preferably F/A‑18). They should have operations and maintenance experience within a Navy operational squadron, preferably with direct management and/or execution of aircraft flight schedules, ranges, or simulator executions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe) and aircraft/simulator scheduling tools such as SHARP and DCAST is required.

Responsibilities
  • Thorough understanding of the Master Syllabus Guide(s) and scheduling/tracking of student throughput.
  • Prioritize training flow and/or timelines to ensure students/classes meet established milestones for required simulators, flights, and phase detachments.
  • Draft/write and disseminate Rough and Smooth flight and simulator daily schedules.
  • Send Rough simulator schedules via the established distro list no later than 1300 daily, or as directed by the Operations Officer.
  • Send all Smooth flight and simulator schedules via the established distro lists no later than 1600 daily or as directed by the Operations Officer.
  • Manage the daily and long‑term flow and priorities for all student syllabus‑training events; resolve scheduling conflicts with academics, simulators, watch standing, and flight events.
  • Track all students to ensure each is in an “up” status to avoid disruptions in scheduling flows.
  • Track and manage student academic progress, simulator, and flight events, ensuring status boards reflect real‑time, up‑to‑date daily status.
  • Manage local utilization databases to track applicable mission data as directed by the Operations/Training Officers (e.g., flights, simulator, daily Contracted Instructor hours).
  • Maintain the Master Syllabus Guide data (error log, missing/incorrect syllabus events, event times, prerequisites, academic flows, changes) to meet Operations and Training Departments STAN requirements.
  • Attend OPS/Maintenance Planning/Coordination Meetings and Airspace/Simulator/Field Carrier Landing Practice (FCLP) Schedule Meetings when directed by the Operations/Training Officers to coordinate FRS scheduling requirements.
  • Coordinate with FRS OPS REPS to manage and schedule day‑to‑day and long‑term FRS training priorities.
  • Document and track all correspondence regarding FRS‑coordinated simulator, ground, or academic training events.
  • Additional FRS operations scheduling support as required by the Operations and Training Officers.
