Work for the IMF. Work for the World. The Middle East and Central Asia Department (MCD) is seeking a highly organized and proactive (Senior) Administrative Coordinator to provide administrative and operational support to the Front Office.

The selected candidate will support at least two Deputy Directors and other senior staff, help ensure the smooth execution of core Front Office functions, and serve as backup to the Director’s Coordinator and other Front Office coordinators, as needed. This role requires sound judgment, discretion, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment, while coordinating closely across the Front Office, MCD administrative team, and Fund‑wide counterparts.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Front Office administrative workflows, working closely with colleagues across the department to ensure smooth, timely, and efficient operations.
  • Manage senior managers’ calendars, meetings, review items, mission travel, deadlines, and follow‑up actions.
  • Manage the MCD Review Inbox jointly with other Front Office coordinators and coordinate timely routing of documents, requests, board‑related items, and departmental inputs.
  • Support MCD‑wide Policy Group coordination and provide direct assistance to select Policy Groups with action items, meetings, events, and papers throughout the review, clearance, and publication process.
  • Support Spring and Annual Meetings document flow, meetings, events, catering, and other logistics in coordination with the Office Manager and other Front Office coordinators.
  • Draft, proofread, and edit documents on behalf of supervisors, ensuring accuracy and alignment with Fund style.
  • Provide guidance on administrative processes, document routing, and relevant Fund procedures to the Front Office and the Department.
  • Help manage competing priorities, anticipate routine issues, and escalates matters appropriately.
  • Look for ways to improve work processes and contribute to administrative team projects.
  • Mentor and train junior administrative staff.
  • Provide backup support to Front Office coordinators to ensure continuity of operations.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with senior staff and departmental colleagues.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Sound judgment, initiative, discretion, and ability to work independently within established procedures, escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Strong administrative expertise and familiarity with Fund policies, procedures, systems, and collaboration tools.
  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime, sometimes on short notice, to support business needs.
  • Educational development typically acquired by the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience.
  • External candidates must have had at least two (2) of the six required years of experience in a lead role.
  • Only candidates currently residing in the Washington DC metro area may be considered.
  • Candidates need to have passed the IMF Office Assistant Exam to be considered for this position.
