Defense Industrial Base Analyst (Onsite)

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Washington DC Area for a Defense Industrial Base Analyst. The analyst will support research and analysis of industrial base capabilities, supply chains, and market conditions relevant to client missions. Day-to-day responsibilities include gathering and interpreting data from multiple sources, preparing briefings and reports, and assisting in the development of recommendations to mitigate risk and enhance resilience.

The role also involves working closely with senior analysts and client stakeholders, contributing to project documentation, and supporting presentations and stakeholder meetings. The Junior Industrial Base Analyst will help ensure data integrity, maintain project tracking tools, and assist with ongoing process improvements in support of industrial base assessments.

Description and Responsibilities

The Analyst will support research, data analysis, survey development, and stakeholder engagement related to the defense industrial base, supply chains, industry competitiveness, and market trends.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct in-depth research on regulatory issues, industry competitiveness, supply chains, and industrial-base challenges and opportunities.
  • Engage with defense and non-defense industry vendors, federal agencies, and other stakeholders to collect relevant quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Support the design, implementation, and management of industry surveys, including the identification of key research questions and data points.
  • Collect, organize, interpret, and synthesize structured and unstructured data to identify trends and develop actionable insights.
  • Develop performance measures, monitor program progress, and report findings to support informed decision-making.
  • Manage databases and develop data visualizations and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI and Excel.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and well-supported memoranda, reports, presentations, correspondence, and other program documentation.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level briefings that communicate research findings, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Present findings and recommendations to program leaders, senior stakeholders, and interagency officials to support decisions regarding program operations, policies, and strategic priorities.
  • Maintain program documents and support task organization, scheduling, and other activities necessary for effective program execution.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with senior staff, client stakeholders, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, economics, international trade, national security, national defense, business, supply chain management, data analytics, international relations, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field and at least two years of applicable experience are preferred.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret and synthesize quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Excellent writing, editing, verbal communication, and documentation skills.
  • Experience preparing formal reports, memoranda, presentations, and executive-level briefings.
  • Experience with performance metrics, data analysis, databases, and data visualization is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in industrial-base resilience, supply chains, national security, the defense industry, government consulting, or related areas.
  • Ability to work on-site in the Washington, DC–Baltimore metropolitan area, as required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance or other required government suitability determination.
