JOB DESCRIPTIONWe're a Democratic campaign for State Representative in Washington's 31st Legislative District (east Pierce/south King), running against the sitting House Republican Leader. It's a small, lean operation, and we need someone who cares about these issues and is willing to put in real effort for what is, honestly, modest pay.
This is the campaign's first paid position. You'd run the week-to-week operation alongside the candidate:
- Cut the week's walk turf (Vote Builder — we'll train you)
- Build and work the volunteer pipeline: confirmation calls, follow‑up, moving people from “yes” to a shift on the calendar
- Set up and run Saturday canvass launches (walk packets, clipboards, kickoff), and knock doors with the team
This is a contract role built around weekly outcomes rather than set hours. Saturday launches happen Saturday mornings; how and when you do the rest is yours to decide. Realistically the work runs about 10 hours a week. You'd work directly with the candidate — on a campaign this size, that's not a figure of speech.
Good fit: you're reliable, you keep good lists, you're comfortable on the phone, and you'd rather own an operation than be handed a task list. Vote Builder/VAN experience is a plus, not a requirement. You'll need reliable transportation around the Auburn–Sumner–Wilkeson–Buckley area and most Saturdays free through November 3.
