Director of Alumnae and Alumni Relations

Salary range: Salary range is $100,000-$110,000 depending on experience.

Trinity Washington University seeks a dynamic, creative, and organized individual to serve as the Director of Alumnae and Alumni Relations. Working closely with the university president and senior leadership team, the Director reports to the Vice President for Development and collaborates closely with the Executive Director for Annual and Reunion Giving and other members of the Development and Communications team. This is a full-time position that includes occasional weekend and evening work.

Trinity is the nation’s oldest Catholic women’s college, now a university with several coeducational units but sustaining its full-time daytime women’s college. Trinity today enrolls a majority of Black and Hispanic students in undergraduate, graduate, certificate and dual enrollment programs. 95% of the student are female; 50% are residents of the District of Columbia, and most Trinity graduates reside in the greater Washington region.

The successful candidate must demonstrate clear expertise and enthusiasm for promoting Trinity’s historic commitments to women and a broadly diverse population of students and graduates.

The Director of Alumnae and Alumni Relations will lead all aspects of the alumnae and alumni engagement program at Trinity, with a strong emphasis on developing new programming for recent alums and graduates of Trinity’s professional degree programs. The Director will design and implement programs to deepen engagement, increase giving, expand volunteer leadership, and support Trinity’s mission by leveraging the community of Trinity graduate ambassadors, advocates, and supporters.

The incumbent will partner with academic units, student affairs, career services, advancement/fundraising, and communications to integrate alums into the full lifecycle of the institution—from current students to graduates and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive alumnae and alumni relations strategy aligned with Trinity’s mission, strategic plan, and advancement goals (engagement, giving, networking, mentorship) and appropriate for the diverse profile of Trinity graduates.
  • Set measurable goals and key performance indicators for alumnae participation, volunteerism, reunion giving, regional/virtual engagement, and alumnae referrals.
  • Plan, manage, and evaluate alumnae events and programs: class reunions, regional gatherings, affinity group events, mentoring programs, young alumnae networks, virtual/online alumnae networking.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and manage alumnae volunteers (board members, class leaders, regional chapter leaders, alumnae in careers/mentorship roles) to serve as program advocates and event volunteers.
  • Collaborate with student affairs and career services to transition graduating students into engaged alumnae.

Communications & Data Management

  • In cooperation with the Creative Services Team, oversee alumnae communications strategy: email newsletters, social media, website content, print/mail, alumnae magazine sections; ensure consistent branding and messaging.
  • Manage alumnae database and CRM (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge) in partnership with advancement operations: ensure data integrity (contact info, engagement metrics, giving history, volunteer assignments).
  • Monitor alumnae analytics: engagement rates, event attendance, giving participation, volunteer pipeline; develop dashboards and reports for senior leadership and trustees.
  • Work in partnership with advancement/fundraising (annual giving, major gifts, planned giving) to engage alumnae in philanthropic opportunities: class reunion giving campaigns, volunteer fundraising initiatives, identification of alumnae donors/prospects.
  • Support stewardship of alumnae donors: ensure recognition events, communications, reports on impact of gifts/volunteer time, cultivation of deeper involvement.
  • May hold a portfolio of alumnae prospects (depending on size/scope) or refer prospects to major gift officers.
