We are seeking applications, on an ongoing basis, for Nutrition adjunct instructors and substitutes at Renton Technical College (RTC). The Dean of General Education reviews applications as needed to fill openings. Please see Terms of Employment for further compensation details. This position will remain open until filled.
RTC offers just one class in this area: NUTR&101 Human Nutrition. Because this class counts as a natural science credit, you will see a wide range of our diverse student population. Wherever possible, we prefer to use open educational resource (OER) materials and textbooks in general education. We are particularly interested in applicants who are available for in-person instruction. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as needs arise within each department.

* Effectively teach the adopted curricula for human nutrition.
* Design inclusive instructional strategies, including classroom, small group and individualized instruction, to reach all students, and select and evaluate the materials needed to implement these strategies.
* Work effectively with students from academically, culturally and economically diverse backgrounds.
* Evaluate student progress towards attaining the learning outcomes, including thoughtfully designed individual assignments, projects, quizzes, and standardized tests.
* Maintain and submit student records, documentation, and program reports, including annual assessment reports on assigned general education student learning outcomes.
* Demonstrated leadership or participation in institutional programs with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working / learning environment.
* Master's degree in nutrition, nutritional science, or dietetics.
* Ability to design in-person and online learning experiences that are interactive and respectful of cultural differences.
* Ability to work effectively with individuals whose first language is not English.
* Ability to work effectively and engage with adult learners.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Demonstrated attention to detail required as well as previous experience maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks, and planning and organizing work in order to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
* Ability to represent the college in a positive and professional manner, while using tact, discretion and courtesy.
* Speaker of a language in addition to English is preferred- preference for top spoken languages in the RTC service area (Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, Chinese).

This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Lecture (theory) credits are compensated at $1,058 per credit, which includes scheduled class time and final exam days.
