We are seeking applications, on an ongoing basis, for Mathematics adjunct instructors and substitutes at Renton Technical College (RTC). The Dean of General Education will review applications as needed to fill openings during the academic year. This position has been designated as a bargaining unit position represented by the Renton Federation of Teachers (RFT) Employees Association.
RTC offers everything from applied algebra to multi-variable calculus. Most students enroll in AMATH 175 Financial Math or AMATH 190 Financial Algebra, but we also have demand for introductory, algebra-based statistics and the calculus sequence. We prefer open educational resource (OER) materials for each class, which enrolls an incredibly diverse group of students. We are particularly interested in candidates who are available for in-person instruction.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as needs arise within each department. Deans will evaluate applications periodically and contact candidates as adjunct positions become available. Note that applications may be reviewed at any time while this posting remains active.

* Design inclusive instructional strategies, including classroom, small group and individualized instruction, to reach all students, and select and evaluate the materials needed to implement these strategies.

* Evaluate student progress towards attaining the learning outcomes, including thoughtfully designed individual assignments, projects, quizzes, and standardized tests.
* Maintain and submit student records, documentation, and program reports, including annual assessment reports on assigned general education student learning outcomes.
* Demonstrated leadership or participation in institutional programs with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working / learning environment.
* To teach AMATH 175 or AMATH 190:
Bachelor's degree in mathematics or math education
* To teach transfer courses in statistics, pre-calculus and calculus:
Master's degree in mathematics, math education, or other graduate degree with substantial credits in math.
* Ability to design in-person and online learning experiences that are interactive and respectful of cultural differences.
* Ability to work effectively with individuals whose first language is not English.
* Ability to work effectively and engage with adult learners.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Demonstrated attention to detail required as well as previous experience maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks, and planning and organizing work in order to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
* Ability to represent the college in a positive and professional manner, while using tact, discretion and courtesy.
* Speaker of a language in addition to English is preferred- preference for top spoken languages in the RTC service area (Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, Chinese).
