Substitute Counselors applying to this post must hold a Washington State ESA Certificate with a School Counselor endorsement.
Renton School District is looking for qualified School Counselor candidates who are interested in working as a long‑term Substitute School Counselor (20‑44 days). Substitute counselors work at all levels K‑12.
Primary PurposeThe Substitute Counselor is responsible for helping to carry out the counseling program's essential functions in the absence of the regular counselor. Substitute counselors work on an as‑needed basis during the school year to fill long‑term absences only. Work hours will vary based on the assignment. Substitute Counselors can only substitute as a School Counselor, unless you also have a valid Washington State teaching certificate.
Minimum Qualifications- Valid Washington State ESA certificate with School Counselor endorsement.
- Demonstrated ability to implement the ongoing instructional plan and maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Cultural Competency; ability to effectively work with diverse populations.
SALARY:
Based on verified education and experience according to the REA Certificated Salary Schedule.

Eligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours employees are anticipated to work during the school year (September 1 through August 31). Any employee who is scheduled to work 630 hours or more in a year is eligible for benefits.
