Adult Basic Education Adjunct Faculty
Reporting directly to the Dean and/or Associate Dean of College & Career Pathways, this position is responsible for providing individualized and/or group instruction for adults with a wide range of academic and career goals. This instructor is responsible for teaching all subjects encompassed in our ELA programs including (but not limited to) reading, writing, speaking and listening. This is an ABE (Adult Basic Education) adjunct faculty teaching position.
The schedule of hours and dates may vary and will be established based upon assignment. Teaching assignment may include online or hybrid courses. This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Include- Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations) and create an educational environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Provide leadership in working to improve access and successful educational outcomes for underrepresented student populations.
- Develop contextualized curriculum and alternative delivery methods and strive to create a positive learning environment for students using diverse teaching methods to support and enhance student success.
- Assist in developing, assessing and analyzing program outcomes for the purpose of program improvement and enhanced student learning.
- Assess, monitor, and document student performance.
- Advise students in meeting their educational goals; complete required paperwork and submit required attendance.
- Maintain student records such as grades using the Canvas learning management system.
- Attend scheduled College & Career Pathways department and team meetings as appropriate.
- Fulfill part-time faculty responsibilities in accordance with the negotiated agreement and College policies.
- Support the College's mission by creating a learning environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking through an equity lens.
- Effectively teach the adopted curriculum for ABE.
- Maintain office hours convenient to students.
- Develop assessment methods to include individual assignments, group projects, quizzes and exams.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff.
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership or participation in institutional programs with persons from diverse backgrounds, such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working/ learning environment.
