Adjunct Teaching Position
This is an adjunct teaching position and may be split between two persons. The schedule of hours and dates may vary and will be established based upon assignment. This instructor must be able to teach Field Surveying program and work closely with the program's advisory committee. This position has been designated as a bargaining unit position represented by the Renton Federation of Teachers (RFT) Employees Association.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as needs arise within each department. Deans will evaluate applications periodically and contact candidates as adjunct positions become available. Note that applications may be reviewed at any time while this posting remains active.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions IncludeResponsibilities:
- Support the college's mission by creating a learning environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking through an equity lens.
- Effectively teach the adopted curriculum for the Field Surveying program.
- Develop and administer tests for Field Surveying courses.
- Provide for the orderly conduct of program learning activities, individual student learning needs and the appropriate evaluation of student progress towards attaining the learning objectives.
- Maintain appropriate individual student records, documentation, and attendance and program reports and submit them in a timely manner.
- Enter student grade records and final grades in Canvas system. (On-line system).
- Ensure the quality of quantity of instruction provided is consistent with the stated objectives of the college and industry.
- Evaluate student progress towards attaining the learning outcomes, including thoughtfully designed individual assignments, projects, quizzes, and standardized tests.
- Design inclusive instructional strategies, including classroom, small groups and individualized instruction, to reach all students, and select and evaluate the materials needed to implement these strategies.
- Maintain office hours convenient to students.
- Participate in recruiting and job placement activities for students with varied backgrounds and career goals.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

Skills and Abilities
- Experience with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working / learning environment.
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in land surveying, geomatics, geospatial science, or a related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of four years' recent successful work experience in the land surveying field.
- Proficient in the use of instrumentation such as total stations and field controllers. Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Autodesk® AutoCAD software and Civil 3D.
- Provide evidence of ability to instruct students in the function and operation of computer software and hardware.
- Ability to design learning experiences that are interactive and respectful of cultural differences.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals whose first language is not English.
- Ability to work effectively and engage with adult learners.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
