Renton Technical College is seeking an Instructional Support Tech to assist our Advanced Manufacturing Division
. This position is responsible for providing instructional and classroom support services for academic and vocational programs. Responsibilities include assisting students with course work and hands‑on assignments; assisting students in preparing materials and equipment for use in the shop, classroom and laboratory settings; setting up, maintaining, and cleaning of operating equipment in accordance with standardized procedures or instruction guidance; assist instructors in presenting course material including administering and scoring tests, and performing a variety of other instructional support duties.

The Instructional Support Tech is represented by the Renton Professional Technical Association (Prof-Tech) union. This is a full‑time, classified, and overtime eligible position reporting to the Dean of Advanced Manufacturing. Work hours for this position will be 11:00am – 8:00pm, Monday through Friday.

The pay range for this role is $59,125.83 - $78,485.73 annually. Salary placement is based on applicable experience. New hires may not be placed above step 10 ($74,456.31). Responsibilities
  • Support the college's mission by creating a learning and work environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking. Foster a climate of multicultural understanding.
  • Support instructors by preparing laboratory equipment, maintaining tools and training equipment, troubleshooting laboratory issues, clean‑up, and assisting students during hands‑on activities.
  • Assist supervisor/instructor in classroom work, field trips, and lecture periods.
  • Help with vocational training activities and maintain the classroom environment while supervisor gives individual attention to students.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for use in classrooms, laboratories or instructional shops; set up assignments, equipment or demonstration apparatus for classes; confer with instructor in establishing and developing assignments.
  • Receive materials and supplies used in classes; assist instructors in demonstration of tools, equipment, machinery, apparatus and materials.
  • Estimate quantity and quality of supplies and materials needed to orders for the course. Maintain stock levels of materials and support purchasing. Catalog equipment and supplies for easy acquisitions and orders.
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance and repairs on laboratory equipment. Coach students, teaching assistants and faculty in the use of equipment
  • Prepares equipment, materials, and solutions for classwork projects. Prepares demonstrations as requested by instructors.
  • Assist instructors with lecture and laboratory material by conducting laboratory or lecture demonstrations. Collaborate with the instructor in establishing and developing assignments.
  • Modify equipment, materials and programs as required for individual instructors; assist students and instructors in selecting correct tools and materials.
  • Provide instructional assistance for students in the development of learning skills such as reading, study skills and other instructional areas.
  • Administer standardized tests to students as directed by the instructor, score tests and record results for analysis.
