GAMA is seeking a Certification and Manufacturing Specialist to support the development of GAMA and industry activities related to general aviation certification and manufacturing initiatives. Candidates for this entry-level position should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, have strong planning and communication skills, a desire to make a positive contribution in aviation, and have an entry-level understanding of aeronautical engineering, airworthiness, and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of and reporting to the Managing Director of Airworthiness and Regulatory Affairs, the Certification and Manufacturing Specialist coordinates with GAMA members and staff on technical issues including engineering, airworthiness certification, noise/emissions certification, and manufacturing of general aviation products.
  • Supports planning, hosting, documentation, and development of briefing materials for in-person and virtual meetings with member companies, authorities, and industry partners; facilitates the development of coordinated GAMA responses through engagement with member companies, industry stakeholders, and government policy offices; and maintains web-based communications, records, and meeting logistics for GAMA policy committees.
  • The position is based in Washington, DC, with occasional travel required for events, meetings, and workshops.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in an aviation technical field such as aerospace management, aerospace engineering, or avionics technology; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Familiarization with the FAA regulatory system and some experience in interpretation and application of FAA regulations governing the certification, airworthiness, environmental (noise/emissions), and manufacturing of aircraft is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with website and database management is a plus.
