The City of Renton is seeking a skilled Senior Finance Analyst to join our Finance Department. This role will play a key part in capital and project accounting coordination efforts for the city, playing a central part in developing key accounting controls, monitoring projects and managing capital assets in a central role. As a member of our collaborative analyst team, the Senior Finance Analyst will also contribute to the City's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, biennial budget production, and a variety of core accounting and financial functions.
EDUCATION,EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field.
- Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, financial analysis, and public finance.
- Or 8 years of relevant experience and education.
- Successful passing of a required background and credit check.

The City of Renton supports workers performing in a hybrid capacity partial telework/in-office) where job responsibilities can be performed remotely. This position may be eligible for a telework arrangement, up to 2 days remote, based on the operational needs of the City and specific Department. Regardless of job title or telework arrangement, City of Renton employees must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance to their worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Assignments may vary depending on area of responsibility.
- Plan and organize the budget and accounting functions for the City.
- Act as the lead for one or more of the following finance department functions: the biennial budget, comprehensive annual financial report, capital improvement program, debt management, banking and investing functions, and internal/external audit functions.
- Coordinate meetings and/or committees, prepare meeting agendas, and facilitate information sharing and collaboration between departments city-wide.
- Act as a finance department liaison to one or more internal City departments; assist supported departments in budget development and on-going budget review and management.
- Work with departments to develop strategies and solutions to achieve their goals within parameters of federal, state, local, and City laws and regulations.
- Analyze department financial activity for accuracy, identify questionable items, and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Conduct research, interpret governing laws and regulations, and make recommendations.
- Create cost allocation models for internal service funds, interagency services, and/or services provided to private agencies.
- Perform cost versus benefit analysis and develop logical and ethical recommendations.
- Prepare budgetary, and financial reports and other supporting schedules as required by City and State laws, policies, and standards established by professional organizations as applicable.
