- Administering and approving burn permits, interpreting/applying fire regulations and IFPL restrictions.
- Conducting wildland fire investigations.
- Fire suppression and working closely with fire suppression resources.
- Act as a Wildland Fire Investigator regularly.
- Lead and/or unit instructor for NWCG fire courses for wildland fire training.
- Lead and participate in wildland fire prevention activities.
- Collaborate with local fire districts, state and federal partners, and other agencies.
- Maintain a leadership role in fire suppression activities and community engagement.
- Two years’ experience in wildland fire management, natural resource, forestry, or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

- Must pass work capacity test annually at the arduous level as required by NWCG.
- Assigned duty station is the Deer Park work center. Work primarily office (75%) but also isolated natural areas (25%). Must traverse uneven terrain in all weather conditions. Requires above average endurance and superior conditioning.
- Position will be assigned an agency vehicle. Requires significant driving and field visits.
- A current valid driver’s license and two years of driving experience. License must not be suspended, revoked, or restricted. Candidates must provide a driving record from all states held in past three years.
