Job OverviewA Patient Care Assistant performs routine nursing services under the supervision of a professional nurse or Clinical Administrative Resource (CAR).
Responsibilities- Demonstrates applied knowledge in generic and department‑specific structure and process standards.
- Utilizes patient care resources and references.
- Reports significant signs and symptoms as directed to the Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Clinical Administrative Resource (CAR).
- Observes changes in patient condition (e.g., level of consciousness, mobility, breathing pattern, skin color, pain, difficulty swallowing, new wound drainage, decreased output).
- Identifies equipment that is alarming or malfunctioning.
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to cardiac/pulmonary arrest, psychiatric emergencies, postpartum hemorrhage (Birth Center), and newborn emergencies (Birth Center).
- Demonstrates safe use of patient care equipment.
- Demonstrates understanding of the developmental/behavioral characteristics of ages served:
Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric.
Current licensure to practice in the State of Washington as a Certified Nursing Assistant is required.
AHA BLS for healthcare providers is required.
One (1) year patient care experience preferred.
MA – Phlebotomy certification required, or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Capable of comprehending, executing, and acting within scope of practice.
- Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills in a diverse population.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with the physical and emotional development of all age groups.
- Performs phlebotomy as requested according to correct procedure.
- Maintains biannual certification.
- Performs chem strip procedure according to procedure.
