We are seeking an experienced Benefits, Leaves & HRIS Manager to lead our benefits, leave of absence, workers’ compensation, and HRIS functions.
About The RoleThe Benefits, Leaves & HRIS Manager is responsible for the strategy, administration, and continuous improvement of Serengeti Care’s total rewards programs and HR systems. This role oversees group benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement), leave of absence programs (FMLA, state leaves, ADA), workers’ compensation, and HRIS configuration and reporting. You will partner closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, Operations, and external vendors to ensure our programs are competitive, compliant, and easy for employees and managers to understand and use.
Key Responsibilities- Lead design, implementation, renewal, and ongoing management of all employee benefits programs.
- Oversee day-to-day benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, terminations, COBRA, and vendor file feeds.
- Administer and track leave of absence programs (FMLA, state leave programs, ADA, personal/medical leaves), including communication and return-to-work coordination.
- Coordinate workers’ compensation claims and partner with carriers, managers, and employees throughout the process.
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA, ADA, and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Serve as primary HRIS owner for HR, managing configuration, workflows, security, and data integrity.
- Develop and run HR and benefits reports (headcount, turnover, leave utilization, enrollment, costs) to support leadership decisions.
- Create and maintain communication materials, guides, and trainings for benefits, leaves, and HRIS self-service.
- Provide timely, accurate, and empathetic support to employees and leaders regarding benefits, leaves of absence, workers’ comp, and HRIS access.
- Lead or support cross-functional projects related to benefits, HRIS, and process improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in benefits administration and/or leave management, preferably in a multi-state environment.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits, leave laws, workers’ compensation, and related regulatory requirements.
- Hands‑on experience with HRIS and benefits administration systems, including configuration and reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to explain complex information in a clear, supportive way.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills; comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment when handling sensitive information.
- HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CEBS, or PMI are preferred but not required.
This is a full‑time, exempt position based at our corporate office in Renton, WA. Core office hours are Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime during peak periods such as open enrollment, renewals, or system changes.
