Overview Of Position

Responsible for providing principal level expertise in the design and technical implementation of current and future data warehouse, business intelligence solutions and data migration strategies to support District use of data to support the needs of students. teachers and schools. Manages the design database architectures, data warehouses, data migrations, data marts, business intelligence packages, and implements user reporting / data access solutions based upon business requirements, content/business knowledge and best practices.

Drives projects to completion on schedule with less senior team members and district staff. Ensures that the use of data warehouse and business intelligence tools inform and enhance business decision-making capabilities.

• Act as the principal level expert in developing and implementing new business intelligence and data warehouse requirements through the use of SQL, ETL, business intelligence tools, and database programming and reporting tools.
• Full life-cycle development and maintenance of data warehouse, ETL, and BI solutions.
• Provide leadership to technical staff and make recommendations on BI reporting packages.

• Work with customers to identify and scope their business opportunities; design and develop against an overall architecture in support of the District's strategic plan direction and anticipated needs for data.
• Participate with the data warehouse technical team in documenting and verifying business requirements, identifying effective solutions to include and present data reporting techniques, identify risks and constraints, and design reporting formats/ data delivery methods.

• Utilize expertise and advanced data analyst skills to monitor data quality; identify root cause problems in data quality and work with other technology and business staff to develop plans to avoid or mitigate data quality issues.

• Develop new capabilities and architectures that capitalize on the development of client portal, and ad-hoc BI capabilities.
• Review and recommend different options to deliver data to end users in a secure, highly useable way.

• Gather and study structured data from technology applications and data warehouses, and provide expertise and insight to assist with business decisions regarding product and interface design to ensure support of data use.

• Develop, maintain and lead the BI team in following best practice in SDLC for data warehouse development work including standards in requirements and ETL documentation, testing, etc.

• Acts as back up to the BI Manager and may have input into performance evaluations.
