Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Average pay for this position ranges from $35-$45 per hour, reflecting your specialized skills in education support.

Qualifications And Experience
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, with prior experience in school settings highly valued
  • Skilled in producing Braille-transcribed educational materials
  • Strong understanding of accessibility needs for students with visual and/or hearing impairments
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Professional certification or relevant credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter and/or Braillist preferred
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in-class and event-based sign language interpretation, ensuring clear communication between staff, students, and peers
  • Translate educational materials into braille and support student use of braille resources
  • Monitor and support student learning progress, providing feedback and suggestions to instructional teams
  • Assist with accessibility planning and resource development for classrooms
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all laws and district guidelines related to student privacy and information
  • Serve as an advocate for students’ communication and access needs
