- Max $50.34 hourly, DOE.
Performs the full range of work involved in the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, modification, and operational checks and testing of Engineering Systems at Valley Medical Center and associated clinics.
Responsibilities- Follow maintenance schedules, inspections, or work orders to perform maintenance services, diagnose systems or equipment malfunctions, and repair as necessary.
- Maintain medical center buildings in good working order and appearance to VMC standards, using correct product application to respective surfaces.
- Apply knowledge to the engineering field, performing assigned duties during drills and emergencies.
- Use engineering drawings, specifications, and schematics to identify and resolve system issues.
- Assist Facility Manager and Lead to comply with all regulatory standards and inspections, both public and private.
- Coordinate inventory of tools and manage materials or parts required for repair work.
- Serve as a resource to coworkers learning new skills and with department operations.
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred;
Associate’s Degree or 4‑year apprenticeship in related field or equivalent experience in engineering or construction. - Washington State driver's license and proven good driving record.
- Five (5) years’ experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and with other shop personnel.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English, including with diverse populations.
- History of regular and punctual attendance.
- Behaved consistently with Valley Values and possess good personal appearance.
- Basic computer skills and ability to utilize computer technology.
- Ability to organize and manage time, set priorities, produce accurate work, and meet deadlines.
- Experience/training in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing maintenance, carpentry, and construction.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and the Life Safety Code.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Extensive bending, lifting, walking, handling hazardous substances, and lifting up to 75 lbs waist‑high; occasional heavier items.
- Proficiency standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, working in overhead, stretched, cramped, awkward positions, on ladders and scaffolds.
- Ability to wear a properly fitted respirator, read/write/speak English, maintain professional manner.
- Exposure to varying weather, electrical burns, infections, chemicals, gases, cuts, electric shocks, dust, and potential falls or power tool injuries.
