The Role:

The Associate Vice President (AVP), Brand and Creative is accountable for defining and leading the enterprise-wide creative strategy, execution, and operating model across Providence. This role establishes the standards, priorities, and direction for how the organization's brand is expressed across multiple business lines, markets, regions, divisions and consumer-facing channels.

Reporting to the SVP Chief Marketing Officer Digital Experience, this role ensures consistent, differentiated, and high-quality creative execution that drives measurable impact on enterprise growth, consumer trust, and brand equity. The AVP leads a distributed creative ecosystem spanning internal teams, agency partners, and cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring alignment to enterprise strategy and operational priorities.

This leader holds enterprise accountability for creative investment decisions, including agency spend, production resources, and prioritization frameworks, ensuring resources are deployed toward the highest-impact initiatives. The role carries enterprise decision-making authority for creative standards, brand expression, and campaign direction, including tradeoff decisions that influence organizational reputation, regulatory risk, and business outcomes.

What You'll Do:

Enterprise Scope and Brand Leadership
  • Accountable for enterprise-wide creative strategy and execution across all markets, business lines, and consumer touchpoints.
  • Defines, establishes, and governs creative standards to ensure consistent and differentiated brand expression across the system.
  • Serves as the enterprise authority for creative direction, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities, brand strategy, and mission.
Creative Strategy and Execution
  • Translates enterprise brand strategy into integrated creative platforms, campaign systems, messaging frameworks, and activation models across channels and audiences.
  • Ensures creative output is strategically sound, audience relevant, and aligned to both brand and business objectives, including growth and engagement.
Enterprise Decision Authority and Prioritization
  • Establishes enterprise prioritization frameworks to guide allocation of creative resources across competing business needs.
  • Holds final decision authority for creative direction, standards, and prioritization where tradeoffs are required across markets, service lines, or initiatives.
  • Makes decisions that balance brand integrity, business impact, regulatory considerations, and stakeholder alignment.
Financial and Resource Stewardship
  • Owns enterprise creative investment strategy, including agency spend, production budgets, and allocation of internal and external resources.
  • Establishes governance and decision frameworks to ensure investments are aligned with enterprise priorities and deliver measurable value.
  • Ensures efficient and effective use of resources while maintaining high standards for quality and impact.
Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness
  • Leads a multi-layered creative function and distributed ecosystem of internal teams, agency partners, and cross-functional leaders.
  • Provides direction, alignment, and standards across resources that extend beyond direct reporting relationships.
  • Builds organizational capability by developing leaders, strengthening operating models, and fostering a culture of accountability, creativity, and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Leadership and Influence
  • Partners with marketing, digital experience, CRM, analytics, communications, legal, compliance, and clinical stakeholders to align creative strategies with enterprise priorities.
  • Influences senior leaders and stakeholders to support effective prioritization, resource allocation, and creative decision-making.
Creative Operating Model and Innovation
  • Leads the evolution of a scalable creative operating model, including intake, prioritization, workflow, governance, and agency engagement.
  • Drives modernization of creative capabilities through responsible adoption of AI-enabled tools, automation, and scalable production systems.
  • Establishes guardrails for AI use, ensuring alignment with brand standards, legal requirements, privacy considerations, and organizational values.
Performance and Impact Accountability
  • Accountable for the impact of creative work on enterprise growth, brand equity, consumer trust, engagement, and market differentiation.
