Corporate Strategy, Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Providence St. Joseph Health (Providence) is seeking a Chief of Corporate Development (Chief) to provide executive leadership for the organization’s recently reorganized corporate development function. Reporting to the Chief Strategy and Growth Officer, this leader will be responsible for Providence’s mergers, acquisitions, strategic partnerships and corporate development functions.
Providence is a not-for-profit Catholic health system that spans 51 acute care hospitals, with over $30 billion in revenue, 5 million unique patients, 125,000 caregivers and $2.1 billion in community benefit. As one of the largest health systems in the country, Providence has significant scale and resources enabling it to provide a comprehensive range of health and social services across Alaska, California, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, and Washington.
Providence is well known for clinical quality with multiple clinical institutes, dedicated research labs, and 2,000+ clinical trials underway. Providence is distinguished for its leadership in innovation and the modernization of healthcare while also deconstructing and diversifying its assets to provide a strong foundation for decades to come.
The Chief will join Providence at a pivotal and energizing moment in the organization’s evolution. As Providence advances its 2030 Strategic Direction and its vision to become the best place to give and receive care, the organization is building a future-ready, value-based care model and accelerating innovation across the care continuum. Strategic partnerships and transactions will be essential to realizing this vision, expanding Providence’s ability to bring leading capabilities, services, technologies, and care models to its patients, caregivers, and communities.
Building on several years of thoughtful portfolio optimization, Providence is now poised to pursue a more growth-oriented agenda. The incoming leader will have a meaningful opportunity to strengthen the organization’s buy-side capabilities and shape a robust pipeline of investments, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and acquisitions. Areas of opportunity are expected to include ambulatory care, post-acute, and emerging care-delivery capabilities that will further Providence’s transition to a more integrated, accessible, innovative, and value-based system of care.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive, self-driven, and highly experienced healthcare executive who identifies opportunities, anticipates challenges, and moves complex work forward with urgency and sound judgment. This individual will combine strategic vision with a hands-on approach, bringing the initiative to originate and advance transactions while engaging colleagues in a collaborative, transparent, and mission-aligned manner. The successful candidate will also inherit an already strong team and will be committed to building upon that foundation by continuing to develop its talent, deepen its capabilities, and position team members for sustained individual and collective success.
The position offers a compelling opportunity for an accomplished healthcare corporate development executive who wants to lead at greater scale while remaining directly involved in the work. The Chief will have access to Providence’s most senior leaders, responsibility for consequential enterprise decisions, and the ability to build relationships with leading organizations across the healthcare industry.
This opportunity can be based in Seattle, WA or Irvine, CA.
The compensation for this role will be competitive and commensurate with the level of experience.
