Project Manager II – Rail & Transit | Signals, Communications & Train Control

We are representing an established engineering consultancy in the search for a Project Manager II to join its Rail & Transit – Signals, Communications & Train Control team in Washington, DC.

This is an opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to take ownership of mid-sized rail and transit projects
, overseeing project delivery, client relationships, financial performance, schedules, resources and multidisciplinary teams.

The successful candidate will combine strong project management experience with a solid understanding of rail/transit signals, communications or train control systems and will play an important role in developing existing client relationships and supporting future business opportunities.

• Lead the delivery of mid-sized rail and transit engineering projects from planning through completion.
• Manage scope, schedule, budget, resources and project financial performance
  .
• Coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams and delegate work effectively to engineers and technical staff.
• Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.
• Identify project risks, scope changes and potential issues, taking proactive steps to maintain successful delivery.
• Coordinate with technical and discipline leads to ensure high-quality project deliverables.
• Oversee QA/QC processes and ensure compliance with contractual and engineering requirements.
• Manage project forecasts, budgets, staffing and resource plans.
• Identify opportunities for additional scope, change orders and follow-on work.
• Support proposals, fee development, scopes of work and resource planning.
• Strengthen existing client relationships and contribute to repeat business and account growth.
• Mentor and provide day-to-day guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.

• 10+ years of progressive engineering experience
  , ideally within the rail and transit sector.
• 4+ years of project management experience
  , including responsibility for projects, teams, clients and budgets.
• Professional Engineering (
  PE
  ) license required.
• Experience with in signals, communications, train control or related rail/transit systems
  .
• Proven ability to deliver projects on time, within budget and to required quality standards.
• Experience managing project financials, resources, schedules and scope.
• Strong client-facing and relationship management skills.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Ability to identify opportunities for additional work and support business development within existing accounts.
• Experience with proposals, scopes, budgets and fee development is highly desirable.
• Strong communication, leadership and mentoring capabilities.
