JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB OVERVIEWThe Communications & Outreach Specialist supports the growth and visibility of Valley Medical Center (Valley) through strategic storytelling, multimedia content creation, provider outreach, community engagement, and patient marketing initiatives. This role develops compelling content and campaigns that increase awareness of Valley's programs and services while strengthening relationships with referring clinicians, community organizations, patients, and key stakeholders. Working closely with leadership, clinicians, and operational teams, the Communications & Outreach Specialist produces a wide range of digital and traditional content-including videos, podcasts, social media content, website content, and marketing collateral-to support service line growth as well as patient engagement.
The position also assists with provider outreach, community partnerships, and targeted patient communication campaigns to help drive access, referrals, and organizational growth.

WORK HOURSTypically 8:30AM to 5:00PM; some evenings and weekends may be required to fulfill job requirements.
REPORTS TODirector, Communications & Outreach
Prerequisites- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field required. Four (4) or more years of relevant experience, or a combination of education, may substitute for degree requirements.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in communications, marketing, outreach, public relations and/or media required.
- Experience writing and creating digital content for healthcare, nonprofit, media, or corporate audiences preferred.
- Experience with video production, photography, podcast production, social media content creation, and content management systems (CMS) preferred.
- Strong understanding of social media strategy and content development.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Experience coordinating community outreach, provider engagement, events, or relationship-building activities preferred.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and multimedia communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content across digital, print, social media, photography, video, and other multimedia platforms.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail; able to prioritize multiple initiatives, meet deadlines, and remain calm and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong storytelling skills with the ability to identify and develop engaging patient, provider, employee, and community stories.
- Able to facilitate the development and implementation of relevant messaging; integrates new ideas and strong creative to enhance communication/engagement efforts with staff, patients, and the community.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across departments and with community partners.
- Media and social media savvy with creative writing, photography, multimedia, and videography skills.
- Experience planning and coordinating events, presentations, community programs, and outreach initiatives.
- Ability to interview subject matter experts and translate complex information into engaging content for public audiences.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and community partners.
- Well-versed in video and audio editing software, website content management software such as Optimizely, and various social media tools/applications.
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently and to meet tight and changing deadlines/priorities.
