Job OverviewThe Employee Health RN provides comprehensive health services for the organization, focusing on workplace safety, compliance with regulatory standards, and employee wellness programs. This role involves assessing and managing workplace injuries and exposures, administering immunizations, pre-employment screenings, and other health screenings, conducting return-to-work assessments, and maintaining confidential health records. Works closely with Human Resources, Infection Prevention, and other departments, provides education on safety and wellness, participates in emergency preparedness, and supports quality improvement initiatives.

Prerequisites- Current RN license in Washington State.
- Current BLS certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience in nursing, required. Experience in Employee or Occupational Health nursing preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing or equivalent experience in occupational nursing.
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of OHSA, ADA, FMLA and other workplace regulatory standards preferred.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills with a diverse population of age groups and medical conditions.
- Ability to independently lead and instruct groups for an extended period of time.
- Able to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
- Adheres to the Professional Appearance Policy.
- Ability to access information and communicate in an electronic environment including but not limited to the use of order entry, e‑mail, and computer documentation skills.
- Demonstrates effective investigative and administrative skills.
Requires ability to perform fine motor movements in administering treatments and performing testing; view and interpret lab results and medical records; listen to clients and explain instructions and teaching materials; plan and supervise care for clients; interpret and investigate incidents and medical events. May need to move or support a person during an emergency. Must be able to handle a fast pace of work under constantly changing situations.
Requires interacting and presenting to large groups for extended periods of time. May include preparation of material for presentations. Requires the ability to problem solve and coordinate a plan of action with several levels in the organization.

- Investigate exposures including blood borne and infectious disease exposures and follow through with a plan of care.
- Administer and document immunizations, vaccinations, and screening programs according to hospital policy and regulatory guidelines.
- Conduct return-to-work health assessments.
- Evaluate and manage workplace injuries and exposures, including needle stick/body fluid exposures, infectious disease exposures, and ergonomic concerns.
- Administer first aid and referral for employees with illness or injury within scope of practice.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, CDC, state health department, and hospital policies related to employee health and safety.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date employee health records on health care services provided to clients.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives as well as survey requests as needed.
- Track and report workplace injury trends and assist in mitigation strategies.
- Inform physicians of significant medical concerns and seek guidance for care and referral.
- Seek recommendations for the care and follow up of employees with medical concerns from Infection Control, Employee Health Medical Advisor, PEP line, Public Health, or other experts as appropriate.
- Work closely with Human Resources regarding onboarding, leave management, workers' compensation claims, and fitness-for-duty evaluations.
- Collaborate with Infection Prevention on exposure management, outbreak response, and employee-related infection control issues.
- Participate in emergency preparedness and employee response protocols.
- Provide education to employees on workplace safety, infection prevention, ergonomics, and wellness programs.
