The RN, School Nurse provides direct care to students in a school setting. The care includes treating injuries, acute illness, chronic disease management and long‑term management for students with special health care needs. The nurse acts as a liaison between school personnel, families and health professionals, communicating with parents, physicians and advanced practice providers.
Responsibilities- Provide direct care to students (treat injuries, manage acute illnesses, and provide chronic disease management and long‑term care for students with special health needs).
- Act as liaison between school personnel, families and health professionals.
- Screen for health conditions and health problems as required.
- Provide health care education to students, parents, teachers, and other school personnel.
- Lead health policies and programs, health promotion, chronic disease management, school health programs, school wellness policies, mental health protection and intervention, and more.
- Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited college.
- 2 years of nursing experience preferred, especially in pediatric, school health or public health nursing.
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Ohio.
- Registered and licensed with the Ohio Department of Education and successfully completed the required background check before starting.
- Valid driver’s license.
- BSN.
- Nationally Certified School Nurse (NCSN).
