Position Summary

Proliance Surgery Center at Valley is seeking professional registered nurses (RN) or new-graduate nurses interested in applying for our Perioperative Nursing Residency Program, which prepares the RN to work in the operating room as a circulating and scrub nurse at our outpatient orthopedic surgery center. This residency program consists of an initial structured 12 - 14 week educational course using AORN’s Periop 101: A Core Curriculum™ supplemented with interactive learning labs, peer discussions, and precepted clinical experiences.

Course administration and successful transition to practice is guided by an in‑center perioperative nurse educator where individual learner needs are addressed.

Work Schedule:

4x 10-hour shifts, Monday - Friday, 6am - 4:30pm PT

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The key duties and responsibilities of the RN include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout their surgical experience.
  • Maintain a friendly, positive and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff.
  • Assist in patient education during all phases of their surgical experience at the Center.
  • Assist in assuring that equipment is functioning properly.
  • Monitor use of all supplies. Assist with inventory control by proper count of supplies/time used.
  • Document appropriately the care that is given to the patient
  • Continuing education to meet State requirements and keep current with health care changes
  • Display professionalism at work and in the community as a representative of the Center
  • Take an active role on committees within the department
  • Identifies actual and potential risk to patients and others and takes action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety
  • Performs charge nurse responsibilities as staffing demands and as requested
Education/Experience
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current State licensure and BLS and ACLS accreditation, or within 6 months of hire
  • Two years of OR (on-the-job training), Recovery Room, Intensive Care or Emergency Room experience is desired. New RN graduates with an interest in the operating room will be considered.
