TITLE:

Manager Ambulatory Education and Training
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Manager Ambulatory Education and Training will oversee the professional development and training for the clinic network. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining an overarching strategy to ensure clinic network team members (clinical and nonclinical) meet both skill and competency objectives. This role will provide direct supervision to staff, use evidence-based research to identify strategies and tactics for improving professional development activities, clinical practice, and patient outcomes and coordinate education initiatives with key clinic network stakeholders.

Typically, Monday - Friday or as required to fulfill responsibilities.

REPORTS TO:

Director of Ambulatory Operations and Education
Prerequisites Bachelor's degree in nursing, required. Master's degree in Health Care Administration, preferred.
Unrestricted active RN license to practice in WA State, required.
Certification in Nursing Professional Development, preferred.
Minimum Five (5) Years Relevant Healthcare Operations Experiences, Required.
Minimum three (3) years leadership experience required, preferably in an ambulatory healthcare setting.
Minimum two (2) years experience coordinating or managing education program /curriculum design, development, implementation, and evaluation/assessment, required.
Minimum of one (1) year experience in working in an electronic Medical Record, Epic preferred.
Qualifications Experienced in professional development or nursing academic education.
Knowledge of adult learning principles, curriculum design, and change management processes.
Experience in a nursing or practice leadership role and staff consultation.

Experience with CQI and standards development.
Able to manage multiple demands and competing priorities.
Ability to collaborate and work in a multidisciplinary team environment, supporting staff members and management in maintaining and promoting a positive work environment cultivating open communication and teamwork with peers, other departments, and management staff.
Knowledge of ambulatory clinic operations, patient safety and quality regulatory requirements, Joint Commission accreditation guidelines and WA State rules and requirements as applicable.
Clinical content expert with ability to identify problems such as scope of practice, and handoff gaps.
Ability to proficiently work with Microsoft Office programs and use of scheduling software and other database computer programs, including educational training programs.
Able to handle multiple demands and competing priorities.
Self-motivated and results oriented.
Demonstrated leadership and relational skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of healthcare personnel and internal/external stakeholders using verbal, written and presentation form.
Ability for problem solving and decision making.
Unique Physical/Mental Demands, Environment And Working Conditions Works at a computer for extended periods of time. Ability to travel to various departments, including off-site locations (UW Medicine sites), as needed for committee participation, site assessments, educational programs, and consultations. Regularly participates in meetings at UW Medicine facilities related to leadership development, patient safety and quality programs. This position may require irregular hours to meet regulatory, UW Medicine, and internal program goals and deadlines.

Available for emergency consultations as needed during off-hours.
