Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Externship Overview

At our Renton Pet Clinic, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a variety of cases and assist with a wide range of surgeries, from cystotomies to enterotomies, to spays and neuters. We are a fun, fast-paced clinic dedicated to providing high-quality veterinary care to small animals. We have a well-trained, hardworking team that supports our veterinarians in providing the best medical, surgical, and dental care to our patients.

We have a superstar LVT who will make dentals seem like a breeze.

Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in the following areas:

• Gathering patient histories
• Performing physical exams
• Creating treatment plans
• Diagnostics
• Dental services
• Observing, assisting, or performing surgical procedures
• Medical management of patients
• Practicing communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Value Pet Clinic-Renton are designed for 3rd and 4th-year veterinary students. Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.

The stipend amount for Renton Highlands Pet Clinic is $1,500.
