Position
The Quality Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and directing all aspects of the Quality department. This role is responsible for implementing and utilizing the AS 9100, ISO , NADCAP, and Compliant Quality Management Systems to ensure that our products are manufactured to meet the dimensions, specifications, quality, and any other features or requirements specified by our customers. The role is responsible for driving the continuous improvement of customer feedback, management, manufacturing, and supply chain processes.
Responsibilities
- Active participation in the company's New Product Introduction (NPI) process - Act as the Quality department's focal point in establishing and releasing new products to the manufacturing floor by creating Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and Control Plans.
- Implement Statistical Product Acceptance Plan as per Boeing D1-8001 & SAE 9138.
- The Quality Engineer will work with Manufacturing and Engineering personnel to ensure a smooth transition of new products from the planning stage through delivery of the product to the customer.
- Support AS9100 requirements. Participate as the Quality focal for internal/external corrective actions resulting from non-conformances.
- Perform process audits to assess compliance, capability, and effectiveness of various manufacturing processes and specifications.
- Help develop and maintain metrics that show the current condition of the processes and help to improve the manufacturing process.
- Create Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) as needed to allow for easier cross-training of personnel.
- Research and analyze specifications to make sound decisions based on customer/industry documentation.
- Review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to ensure completeness and compliance with AS9102 standard.
- Proficient in NPI, APQP, and work instructions for QC inspections.
- Experience managing a manufacturing quality system with measurable results.
- Familiarity with APQP and RCCA methodologies.
- Experience with AS9100 or ISO 9000 quality systems.
- Knowledge of GD&T.
- Proficient in data-driven problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Experience with statistical data analysis to improve design, manufacturing, and supply chain processes.
- Knowledge of advanced manufacturing, quality assurance/control, and measurement techniques.
- Experience with product inspection standards, sampling, metrology, and calibration tools preferred.
- Ability to specify, negotiate, and document supplier quality requirements.
- Knowledge of supply chain processes and supplier quality management for government and prime contractor environments.
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and lead an effective MRB (Material Review Board) program.
- Capable of leading or contributing to continuous improvement initiatives for both products and processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to address conflict directly and work toward proactive resolution.
- Builds strong, collaborative relationships with upper management, peers, and production teams.
- Effective at managing and facilitating interdisciplinary teams.
- Adaptable to changing requirements, resources, and tools.
- Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining sound decision-making.
- Superior leadership and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 7 years in like or related role.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong preference for aerospace interiors.
- ASQ-QE or QM certification preferred.
- Lean certification preferred (Green or Black Belt).
- Experience using cloud-based ERP and quality management systems (QMS).
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products, strong Excel is required.
