Position: Material Science Specialist (Masters/PhDs)

Material Science Specialist (AI Training)

What if your deep expertise in material science could directly shape how AI reasons about semiconductors, molecular structures, and the physical world? We’re looking for Materials Science specialists — Masters and PhD holders — to help train and evaluate cutting edge AI models on some of the most technically demanding problems in science. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers and domain experts who want to put their knowledge to work in a new and high impact way.

No AI background needed - your scientific expertise is what matters.

What You'll Do
  • Develop, solve, and review advanced material science problems with real-world scientific relevance
  • Apply your expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or related domains to design complex, rigorous problem sets
  • Evaluate AI-generated scientific reasoning for accuracy, depth, and logical coherence
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to strengthen model performance
  • Ensure scientific rigor, clarity, and precision across all deliverables
  • Work independently on task-based assignments - fully on your own schedule
Who You Are
  • Master’s or PhD in Material Science or a closely related field
  • Strong expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or adjacent areas
  • Comfortable coding in Python or MATLAB for research or applied projects
  • Naturally detail-oriented with a rigorous, methodical approach to scientific problems
  • Clear and precise written communicator - you can explain complex concepts without sacrificing accuracy
  • Fluent in English and based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand
Nice to Have
  • Experience with data annotation, data quality review, or AI evaluation workflows
  • Background in computational materials science or simulation-based research
  • Familiarity with AI tools or scientific benchmarking as an end user
  • Prior experience reviewing or peer-editing technical scientific content
