Job Summary
Business Development Executive – Washington (Hybrid role: 3 days/week in office at Renton, WA). Candidates must reside within commutable distance of the Renton office or be willing to relocate. This role supports Cambia’s mission to create a person-focused and economically sustainable health‑care system by selling Regence product lines (Medical, Dental, Vision, etc.) across various market segments and building strategic relationships with producers and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Sell new Regence business and solutions while meeting or exceeding sales goals, including membership and cross‑selling targets.
- Track all activity in Salesforce and maintain a weekly top‑prospect list with key details to give leadership visibility into pipeline status.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, group decision makers, and key industry networks (NAHU, SHRM, EBPA), including planning and executing business and social events.
- Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams (Underwriting, Marketing, Product, Claims, etc.) and proactively maintain a cross‑sell funnel with Cambia solution partners.
- Apply a consultative sales approach to identify customer needs, negotiate plan design and financial mechanisms, and match solutions that deliver full value proposition.
- Demonstrate in‑depth knowledge of benefit design, funding options, and underwriting requirements while staying current on industry trends and competitive activities.
- Engage prospects through discovery‑focused conversations, active listening, and tailored finalist presentations that effectively address objections and highlight Cambia's competitive advantages.
- Excel in diverse presentation settings—formal, informal, one‑on‑one, or large groups—while adapting tactics and communicating compellingly on complex topics.
- Facilitate seamless new business transitions to account executives while serving as a credible ambassador for Regence and Cambia across the community and organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
- 4 years of sales experience, with 2 years preferred in employee benefits or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current license to sell health, life, and/or disability insurance in the state(s) where business is conducted, or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
- Valid state driver’s license with a good driving record and proof of auto insurance.
- Proficient in Salesforce, Chatter, and desktop applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Experience with AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity and decision‑making considered highly desirable.
- Proven track record of achieving sales goals, managing pipelines, and transitioning accounts with a consistent, self‑directed focus on results.
- Strong ability to plan and execute effective sales strategies, including top prospect lists and complex cost modeling scenarios.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to engage and compel diverse audiences, including broker education and open enrollment meetings.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective business relationships, including community and networking engagement outside of normal business hours.
- Proficient in adapting to an ever‑changing business environment while maintaining a fully committed and enthusiastic approach to work.
The expected hiring range for the Regence Business Development Executive is $80,200 – $94,300 depending on skills, experience, education, and training; relevant licensure/certifications; performance history; and work location. This role has a robust incentive plan based on individual and organizational goal achievement. Current full salary range: $80,200 – $107,000.
