Overview:
The Secret Service Special Operations Division’s Counter Assault Team (CAT) creates a unique tactical career opportunity for special agents within the Office of Protective Operations. Special agents within this tactical operations assignment possess operational skills that are relevant to the mission of the Special Operations Division. Special agents assigned to CAT provide tactical support to Secret Service protective details to include high level protectees such as the President and Vice President of the United States of America.
CAT members conduct comprehensive mission planning and extensive coordination with support entities to accomplish their mission. CAT personnel receive advance training in weapons handling, tactics, and decision making.
Provide tactical support to protective detail missions, plan and coordinate operations, maintain high level defensive and offensive tactics, and maintain readiness for assignment to high-level protectees.
Requirements- U.S. Citizenship.
- Possess a current valid driver's license. Must be REAL .
- Use your official name as it appears on governing identification.
- Must be at least 21 years old at the time of application and under 40 eptions may apply for federal law‑enforcement service holders.
- Submit to a pre‑appointment drug test and random drug testing during service. Disclose prior use of substances.
- Obtain a Top‑Secret Clearance and retain it throughout your career.
- Undergo an automatic credit check after initial qualification.
- Carry and use a firearm. Maintain proficiency. Conviction of a domestic‑violence misdemeanor without pardon or expungement disqualifies.
- Complete 13 weeks of intensive training at the FLETC and 20–22 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center. Failure to pass may result in separation.
- Sign a mobility agreement to accept assignments anywhere in the United States and overseas.
- Certify Selective Service registration or exemption for male applicants born after December 31, 1959.
- Uncorrected visual acuity no worse than 20/100 binocular; corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye. Lasik, ALK, RK, and PRK surgeries acceptable with specified waiting periods.
- Hearing loss not exceeding 25 decibels in each ear at 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz.
