A Mechanic will be responsible for shift coverage and must possess strong trouble‑shooting skills in all areas of maintenance in guest rooms, meeting spaces, front of the house areas, and back of house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems. The Mechanic will also perform preventative maintenance on major equipment and systems, using a Windows‑based computer system. Ability to read blue prints and schematics is preferred.

A minimum of five years building maintenance experience is preferred. A strong working knowledge of all major building systems, including life‑safety systems, is required. Good communication skills are necessary.

• Maintain the physical functionality and safety of the facility, including guest rooms, public space and back‑of‑house areas.
• Respond to guest calls and colleague work orders in a timely, friendly and efficient manner to assess and repair non‑functioning machinery and/ or equipment.
• Perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, HVAC work and masonry.
• Install and repair wall covering.
• Conduct inspections for preventative maintenance needs.
• Record and report completed repairs and items that require further attention.
• Assist with patrolling the interior and perimeter of the hotel and the property to observe and identify potential safety risks, security risks and undesirable conditions.
• Respond to emergencies including safety hazards, fires, medical emergencies and threats to life and/or property.
• Promote safe work practices.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Engineering Leadership Team.

The salary range for this position is $27.50 to $35.75 per hour. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, including experience, qualifications and education.

• High school diploma or GED equivalency preferred.
• Higher level of training preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years previous maintenance experience required, preferably in a hotel.
• Extensive electrical, mechanical and plumbing experience needed.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Strong working knowledge of building and life‑safety systems.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to be under and follow directions and perform job functions with limited supervision.
• Read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other colleagues.
• Availability to work varying shifts to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work a full shift (8 hours) walking and standing.
• Flexibility to respond to a variety of work situations.
• Ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to crouch, stop, twist, reach, extend, lift, sit or stand for extended periods.
• Knowledge of OSHA laws and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Responsibility for reporting defective, damaged or lost PPE or equipment.
