We are one of the largest producers of frozen-at‑sea flatfish, cod, pollock and other groundfish, and distribute seafood throughout the world. We manage three trawl‑catcher‑processor vessels that operate in the Bering Sea, Aleutian Islands, and the Gulf of Alaska.
Responsibilities and Qualifications- 2+ years experience as a marine electrician preferred
- Work 12 hrs/day, 7 days/week in all weather conditions
- Repetitively lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Self‑motivated team‑player
- Understand instructions and safety rules in English
- Must be able to provide 2 recent positive references from previous employers
- Capable of climbing and descending steep stairs and vertical ladders
- Share spaces with others, including crew quarters, dining areas, and bathrooms
- Responsible for all electrical systems onboard, including power generation, power distribution, engine room, fish processing, hotel, bridge and deck systems
- Troubleshoot electrical issues with equipment and recommend resolutions
- Repair or replace wiring equipment or fixtures using hand and power tools
- Examine electrical circuits and equipment using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and oscilloscopes to confirm compatibility and safety
- Demonstrate competency with PLC systems
- Work directly with the Chief Engineer to ensure all electrical systems are operational and safe for all personnel
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment or parts to spot hazards, defects or the necessity for adjustment or repair and confirm compliance with applicable codes
- Diagnose faulty systems, apparatus or parts using equipment and hand tools to find the reason for a breakdown and correct the problem
- Place conduit within selected partitions or walls and pull insulated wires or cables through to finish circuits between boxes
- Demonstrate competence in managing Lock Out/Tag Out and energy isolation procedures
- Work with the Chief Engineer to keep electrical systems in compliance with regulatory and classification regulations (U.S.C.G., DNV, FCC, OSHA)
- Perform routine and annual maintenance of all electrical systems based on manufacturer recommendations
- Direct and train other engineering staff to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures
- Ensure compliance with applicable sections of the Safety Management System and be conversant with the policies and procedures contained in the SMS
- Maintain electrical parts list and inventory, order supplies through the Chief Engineer
- Maintain workshop, work areas and supplies in an orderly fashion in compliance with regulatory standards
