Electric Vehicle Service Technician

Location: Renton, WA

Reports To: Service Manager / General Manager

About Revolve Motors

Revolve Motors is an independent EV dealership and service center specializing in pre-owned electric vehicles. We believe EV ownership should be simple, affordable, and built on trust.

Our mission in service is to keep electric vehicles on the road longer by repairing what others replace. From battery diagnostics and drivability concerns to complete vehicle reconditioning, we’re building a modern service department focused on transparency, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.

We’re a startup. That means every person on our team helps shape the future of our business.

Why This Role Matters

This isn’t a traditional technician position.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving difficult problems, wearing multiple hats, and helping build a best-in-class EV service department from the ground up.

One hour you may be diagnosing an electrical concern. Next you’ll be writing an estimate, talking with a customer, sourcing parts, improving an SOP, or helping another technician solve a difficult problem.

If you’ve ever looked around a shop and thought, "There’s a better way to do this," we want to hear your ideas.

What You’ll Do Diagnose & Repair
  • Diagnose electrical, drivability, suspension, steering, brake, charging, and high-voltage concerns
  • Perform accurate root-cause analysis rather than simply replacing parts
  • Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high quality standards
  • Perform battery health reports, high-voltage diagnostics, and battery-related repairs
  • Perform tires, alignments, suspension, brakes, cooling system service, and general EV maintenance
Vehicle Inspections & Reconditioning
  • Perform comprehensive inspections on customer and inventory vehicles
  • Complete retail safety inspections and document recommendations
  • Test drive vehicles before and after repairs to verify concerns and confirm repairs
  • Recondition inventory vehicles to Revolve Motors retail standards
  • Identify additional maintenance opportunities that improve customer safety and vehicle reliability
Customer Communication
  • Write clear, accurate repair orders documenting customer concerns and technician findings
  • Build estimates and quote parts and labor accurately
  • Explain repair recommendations in language customers understand
  • Communicate repair progress, delays, and next steps professionally
  • Help customers understand their vehicle, not just fix it
Parts & Shop Operations
  • Research parts, pricing, and repair procedures
  • Help manage shop inventory and special-order parts
  • Keep repair documentation organized inside Shopmonkey
Build the Business
  • Help improve shop processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Recommend new tools, equipment, and efficiencies
  • Mentor junior technicians as the team grows
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Take ownership of problems and help create solutions
What You Bring
  • 3+ years of automotive service experience
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with electrical systems
  • Ability to independently diagnose complex vehicle concerns
  • Comfortable using scan tools, diagnostic software, service information, and computers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and willingness to continue learning
You’ll Stand Out If You
  • Have Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, Nissan, Hyundai/Kia, or other EV experience
  • Have experience writing repair orders or service estimates
  • Enjoy building processes instead of simply following them
  • Thrive in startup environments where every day looks different
  • Believe customer trust is just as important as technical ability
What We Offer
  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Ongoing EV and high-voltage training
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge EV technology across multiple manufacturers
  • Direct influence on building one of the Pacific Northwest’s leading independent EV service centers
  • A collaborative, low-ego, high-accountability culture
  • Clear opportunities for advancement as Revolve Motors continues to grow
Our Ideal Candidate

You’re naturally curious. You enjoy solving problems that other technicians avoid. You communicate well with customers, take ownership of your work, and aren’t afraid to learn something new.

Most importantly, you’re excited about helping build something that doesn’t exist yet.

If you’re looking for "just another technician job," this probably isn’t it.

If you’re looking to help shape the future of independent EV service, we’d love to meet you.
