Maintenance Mechanic – Water/Wastewater Treatment

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery, and equipment at water/wastewater treatment facilities. You'll troubleshoot mechanical issues, maintain pumps and engines, and support plant operations through hands-on repair and installation work.

Pay: $32.00- $35.00 per hour DOE

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery, and equipment
• Lubricate equipment and check for malfunctions; replace packing in pumps/valves and bearings in motors/pumps
• Tune engines, set valve clearance, clean and adjust regulators
• Analyze equipment failures to determine cause and prevent recurrence
• Install and set up new equipment
• Clean pipes and perform plumbing/pipe fitting tasks as required
• Use gas and/or arc welding equipment to heat, cut, braze, or weld
• Assist in maintaining maintenance records
• Communicate effectively regarding recommended maintenance and repair procedures
• Follow written and oral instructions
• Perform other duties as required

Required:

• High school diploma or GED
• 2 years of experience in maintenance and repair
• Valid driver's license

Preferred:

• Some trade school education with emphasis on electrical/mechanical equipment and metal fabrication
• Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in construction, repair, and operation of engines, pumps, and mechanical equipment related to water/wastewater treatment
• Knowledge of internal combustion engines, electrical pump motors, and safe work practices
• Ability to enter data into a computer maintenance management system
