Industrial Instrument HVAC Technician - South Treatment Plant

This recruitment will hire for 1 position. In addition to the current opening, this recruitment may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill future Industrial Instrument HVAC Technician - South Treatment Plant Career Service vacancies within the Wastewater Treatment Division over the next 6 months.

The Instrument/HVAC Crew is an integral part of the maintenance group, and along with operations, our focus is the treatment of wastewater. We protect public health and enhance the environment by collecting and cleaning wastewater while recovering valuable resources for a healthy Puget Sound region.

The King County Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) has staffing needs for experienced and technically proficient Industrial Instrument/ HVAC Technician. The responsibilities of this classification include all related HVAC/R, building, and mechanical chiller systems. Performing a wide variety of highly skilled technical journey level duties to design, construct, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and modify computerized systems, electrical, electronics, pneumatics, and hydraulics related to the HVAC instrumentation and equipment.

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all plant Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Systems. Including all Water-Cooled Chillers, reciprocating and screw type compressors package units with different tonnage configurations.
• Install, troubleshoot and repair distributed and supervisory control systems (DCS/SCADA), programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and single loop controllers (SLC's);
  Apply electronic theory, digital electronics, and proportional integral derivative (PID) control strategies to implement program changes to DCS/SCADA and PLCs.
• Analyze industrial processes in troubleshooting and repair of process control instrumentation. Design new controls and implement modifications to existing control systems. Update technical and process documentation, Work with operations personnel, engineers, and suppliers to explain the function of processes and procedures needed for the operation of new equipment.
• Make recommendations on purchasing and inventory requirements for all HVAC and or Instrument related equipment and determine appropriate inventory of spare parts for HVAC and Instrumentation.
• Assist in inspection of instrumentation installed by contractors as well as witnessing and assessing loop commission testing. Review, modify and update drawings to conform with established plant standards.
• Make recommendations on purchasing spares and inventory requirements for all HVAC and or Instrument related equipment.

• Ability to recover and reuse different types of refrigerants using HVAC/R testing and recovery equipment while following EPA guidelines.
