We create entertainment that inspires creativity, sparks passion, forges friendships, and fosters communities around the globe. In every pursuit our mission is to inspire a lifetime love of games. As we continue to grow and explore new realms, we're seeking passionate, curious, and innovative minds to join the adventure.
Do you have the passion and expertise to shape the tools and pipelines that power great games? We are seeking a Build Engineer to join our Central Technology Build Engineering team as we develop and curate an Unreal Engine ecosystem to share across our internal game studios. You will join a specialized team responsible for unblocking developers, ensuring build stability, and optimizing iteration workflows across multiple concurrent titles.
This is a hands‑on IC role where engineering excellence meets operational reliability. You’ll collaborate closely with game development teams to ensure a seamless experience for all Unreal‑powered studios under our banner. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain the compile and packaging pipelines, automation frameworks, and engine tooling that keep our studios moving fast.
- Work with the team to design a ready‑made suite of Unreal Engine build systems, pipeline tooling, and automation frameworks shared across studios.
- Own and evolve our Unreal Engine Horde ecosystem — including engine and tooling customizations and plugin management.
- Develop, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for compile, cook, package, and submission workflows across multiple platforms (PC, console, mobile).
- Support and administer studio‑specific Perforce environments, including stream management, workspace configuration, and trigger scripts.
- Investigate and resolve build failures, cook errors, and packaging issues in close partnership with game teams and engine programmers.
- Define standards and best practices for performance, observability, and maintainability of build pipelines.
- Act as a technical partner and mentor to studio engineers, helping teams adopt and extend shared systems effectively.
- Innovate with emerging build technologies, engine tooling, and AI‑assisted developer workflows.
- Deep, hands‑on experience with Unreal Engine internals — including UBT, UAT, the cook and packaging pipeline, and plugin/module architecture.
- Proven ability to write and maintain build scripts and automation in C++, C#, Python, or Bash in the context of game engine workflows.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for game projects (e.g., Jenkins, Build Graph, Team City, Git Hub Actions, or similar).
- Administration experience or expert knowledge with Perforce, including branching strategies and workspace automation.
- Familiarity with multi‑platform build targets (Windows, Play Station, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or mobile) and platform SDK integration.
- Comfortable working with and managing AWS infrastructure.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, pipelines as code, and Git Ops practices.
- Strong ability to build trust and clarity in communication with technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Exposure to Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
