OverviewThe Republic School District is seeking a dedicated and innovative Special Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering specialized instruction to students with a range of disabilities, ensuring they receive a high-quality education tailored to their individual needs. This position requires effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and support staff to create and implement comprehensive individualized education programs (IEPs).
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student.
- Provide direct instruction and support in inclusive classrooms and resource rooms.
- Modify curriculum and instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and disabilities.
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods based on data and individual performance.
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and IEP goals.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, IEPs, and other required documentation.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Missouri teaching certificate in Special Education (K-12).
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations.
- Expertise in IEP development and implementation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of educators and support staff.
- Experience working with students with various disabilities is preferred.
- Missouri Initial Professional Certificate (IPC) or Continuous Professional Certificate (CPC) in Special Education.
- Certification in Mild/Moderate Cross-Categorical Disabilities (K-12) or Severe Developmental Disabilities (K-12).
- Any additional certifications required by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
- Proficiency in using assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
- Familiarity with behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and positive behavioral supports.
- Training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or other specialized instructional methods.
