A growing and dynamic organization in the government contracting / professional services space is seeking a high-performing Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. The company is experiencing increased complexity due to acquisitions and joint ventures, creating strong opportunities for growth and advancement.
This role is ideal for someone coming out of public accounting (Big 4 or similar) who is looking to transition into an industry role with more ownership and a clear path toward leadership.
Position OverviewThe Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, supporting the general ledger, month-end close, and audit processes. This position requires strong technical accounting experience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support full-cycle general ledger accounting and month-end/year-end close processes
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Perform technical accounting across areas such as debt, leases, prepaids, goodwill, and intangibles
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, FAR, and CAS requirements
- Assist with implementation of new accounting standards
- Support external audits, including financial audits and DCAA compliance reviews
- Own and manage the expense reporting process, including reconciliations and payment reviews
- Partner cross-functionally to resolve accounting issues and improve processes
- Contribute to system enhancements and process improvement initiatives
- Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed
- Public accounting experience required (Big 4 strongly preferred)
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong technical accounting background with full-cycle experience
- Experience in complex environments (M&A, joint ventures, or multi-entity structures preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Energetic, driven, and motivated to grow into leadership roles
- CPA (or actively pursuing)
- Experience with in government contracting environments
- Familiarity with FAR, CAS, and DCAA compliance
