OVERVIEW

Our client is an established leader in developing and pioneering leading-edge color measurement technology, providing quality color control solutions worldwide. As a customer-focused, quality-driven, employee-owned company, they are seeking an individual with a similar mindset to join their team as a Staff Accountant
.

POSITION SUMMARY

This will be a key position handling a variety of General Ledger Accounting duties in support of the Controller. Responsibilities will include Bank Reconciliations
, Journal Entries
, Month-End Closing
, and additional Corporate Accounting duties. This position will utilize a candidate’s strong analytical skills to assist with financial reporting and to provide cost trend insights within a manufacturing environment
. In addition, this position will accurately maintain various financial records by analyzing Balance Sheets, P&Ls, Cash Flow, and General Ledger accounts.

The ideal candidate will have a 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
, with strong foundational and practical understanding of Debits and Credits
, and US GAAP
. Ideal industry background should be in Manufacturing
, Construction
, Transportation
, or Commercial Services industries. We are looking for a self-starter who can hit the ground running! RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with internal department managers to provide financial and accounting support to identify opportunities for productivity enhancement, cost savings, and profitable solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations, and assist with monthly and yearly close processes.
  • Participate in the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
  • Stay updated on the preliminaries of monthly financial reporting and other business data.
  • Support Accounts Payable as needed, including maintenance of Purchase Orders, with 2-way or 3-way matching.
  • Assist with monitoring and maintaining internal accounting controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and remain engaged to ensure adequate controls and procedures are carried out.
  • Assist with several aspects of the monthly/quarterly/annual close process (i.e., journal entries, account reconciliations, expense analysis, trend analysis, and variance analysis).
  • Generate actionable reports and analyses by accessing various databases and producing financial reporting that will support stakeholder objectives by gathering and analyzing cost data.
  • Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documentation, and records in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Create, analyze, validate, and monitor data for financial reporting and cost analysis/margin analysis/pricing analysis.
  • Determine standard costs, investigate variances, create and manage annual budgets, monitor spending, and forecast cost processes, labor, material, and inventory with the Supply Chain.
  • Record fixed assets by creating and supervising procedures, forms, and controls, including tax reporting, following US GAAP.
  • Recommend any updates to accounting policies affecting fixed assets.
  • Record newly acquired fixed assets, allocate tag numbers for effective tracking, perform regular reviews for obsolescence, and process disposals in the accounting system.
  • Perform reconciliation of the fixed asset subsidiary ledger balance and depreciation calculations for all fixed assets.
  • Create fixed asset-related audit schedules and serve as the representative for audits or questions related to fixed assets.
  • Track the Company’s fixed asset spending concerning capital budget and management authorizations.
  • Respond to information requests, review financial statements, assist with audits, and meet timely deadlines.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is REQUIRED.
  • 3+ years of Full-Cycle Accounting experience – Preferably within the Manufacturing, Construction, Transportation, or Commercial Services industries.
  • Strong understanding and application of Debits and Credits, and US GAAP.
  • Strong MS Excel experience is critical (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
  • Detail-oriented analytical thinker with the ability to investigate financial data and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communicator who will work well in a fast-paced setting.
  • An eager and enthusiastic mindset; someone who enjoys taking the initiative and is eager to grow within accounting.
