Overview

Bechtel is seeking a part‑time telework Construction Project Leader for a renewables project. The position is based in Reston, VA initially; after contract award, relocation to the project site will be required. This role follows Bechtel's global telework policy and requires at least three in‑person workdays per week at the assigned office or project.

You will manage the organization and direction of project construction activities and oversee total site management, including supervision of construction craft personnel, field engineering, contract administration, cost and schedule, field procurement, and finance and accounting. Your leadership will ensure project operations are compliant, safe, timely, within scope and budget, and clients are satisfied.

• Leadership/Supervision:
  Manage the organization and direction of construction and related activities of a single construction project, including actions of Bechtel, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and their representatives.
• Acts as primary client contact for all project field activities.
• Oversees total site management including supervision of construction craft personnel, field engineering, contract administration, cost and schedule, field procurement, finance and accounting services, and craft resource personnel as applicable.
• Maintains client relationship and is the primary contact for client communications with field activities and other functional departments.
• Coordinates project contractual activities and participates in the development of contract, subcontract, or vendor scopes of work, budgets, contract formation, and negotiations.

• Oversees jobsite expenditures for labor, equipment, material and services and ensures field operations are within budget.
• Establishes project field procedures and objectives within corporate policies and procedures as necessitated by conditions at a jobsite.
• Develops, implements, and administers a jobsite security plan and coordinates activities with the corporate security department.

• Ensures development and execution of Project Automation Plan, Environmental Compliance Plan, Safety Plan, Site Survey Plan, Non-manual Staffing Plan, Subcontracting Plan, Labor Strategy, Construction Execution Plan, and job-site work rules.
• Plans and establishes procedures to ensure construction operations meet engineering designs and specifications.

• Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
• Relevant utility-scale solar experience - direct, hands-on experience managing construction on utility-scale solar PV projects.
• Construction and project management expertise – ability to review construction schedule sequence, identify trends, reference project budgeting, and make project decisions. Ability to manage work breakdown structures, track milestones, report progress, and adjust resources to keep construction on schedule.

• Managing, coordinating, and administering site construction and supporting activities, including planning, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up, performance testing, initial operations, and prime contract close-out. Has overall responsibility for project execution, ensuring that the project is delivered within contract requirements, standards of quality and safety and to customer and Bechtel performance expectations.
• Provides overall leadership direction for the project; including the management of project quality, timeliness, safety, as well as mentoring the project team.
• Manages budgets and schedules, manages performance, reports progress, and initiates action to assure program/project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budget and according to specification.
