Project Overview

Bechtel's commitment to renewables and clean energy is driving the delivery of transformative projects for our customers. Our renewables team will manage the project lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup, for a project in Texas.

Job Summary

In this role, you will manage the organization and direction of project construction activities and oversee total site management including supervision of construction craft personnel, field engineering, contract administration, cost and schedule, field procurement, and finance and accounting. Your leadership will ensure project operations are compliant, safe, timely, within scope and budget, and that clients are satisfied.

The position will initially be based in Reston, VA; following contract award, the selected candidate will relocate to the project site.

This position is designated as part‑time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in‑person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in‑person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Major Responsibilities Leadership / Supervision
  • Manage the organization and direction of construction and related activities of a single construction project, including actions of Bechtel, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and their representatives.
  • Act as primary client contact for all project field activities.
  • Oversee total site management including supervision of construction craft personnel, field engineering, contract administration, cost and schedule, field procurement, finance and accounting services, and craft resource personnel as applicable.
  • Maintain client relationships and serve as the primary contact for client communication with field activities and effective relations with other functional departments.
  • Coordinate all project contractual activities; participate in the development of contract, subcontract, or vendor scopes of work, budgets, contract formation, and negotiations.
Planning
  • Oversee jobsite expenditures for labor, equipment, material and services and ensure field operations are within budget.
  • Establish project field procedures and objectives within corporate policies and procedures as necessitated by conditions at a jobsite.
  • Develop, implement, and administer a jobsite security plan and coordinate activities with the corporate security department.
Safety & Quality
  • Ensure development and execution of Project Automation Plan, Environmental Compliance Plan, Safety Plan, Site Survey Plan, Non‑manual Staffing Plan, Subcontracting Plan, Labor Strategy, Construction Execution Plan, and job‑site work rules.
  • Plan and establish procedures to ensure construction operations meet engineering designs and specifications.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
  • Relevant utility‑scale solar experience – direct, hands‑on experience managing construction on utility‑scale solar PV projects.
  • Construction and project management expertise – ability to review construction schedule sequence, identify trends, reference project budgeting, and make project decisions; ability to manage work breakdown structures, track milestones, report progress, and adjust resources to keep construction on schedule.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Managing, coordinating, and administering site construction and supporting activities, including planning, engineering, procurement, construction, start‑up, performance testing, initial operations, and prime contract close‑out. Overall responsibility for project execution, ensuring delivery within contract requirements, quality standards, safety, and customer expectations.
